Thanks for your response however, I will have to respectfully disagree with you regarding me moving over to the 'edge of the road.' One a one-lane street, I have every right to use the lane and I did so. Drivers don't drive in parking lanes, right? I don't bike in parking lanes either. If drivers wants bike riders to 'ride responsbily' this is the responsible way to ride. My safety comes first before any drivers destination. You want to antipate my next move just like I want to anticipate yours (like we've all been taught in drivers ed).
Yes, bike riders ride through red lights and stop signs and as a bike rider, I get just as frustrated as you, even more so b/c I'm the one fighting as a bicycle advocate. Its the whole 'one step forward, two steps back.' If Columbus had decent and well-designed infrastructure then maybe bike riders wouldn't run red lights or stop signs, etc. which is one thing myself and Consider Biking is consstantly working towards. On the flip side of that coin, infrastructure has been built solely for cars and not all lights magically detect us. As an LCI (League Certified Instructor), if a light does not detect me and cycles, I legally and safely can bike through the red light. This DOES happen. Now, not all the time, I get it but please keep that in mind.

The guy was a jerk for sure but bicycles and cars do not belong on the same road. Instead of arguing about who has the right to be on the road, maybe we should push for there to be more bike lanes in Columbus. At the very least, you could have moved over to the edge of the road and he could have cordially drove around you. Bikes in the middle of the street is ridiculous and dangerous and I see bikers flying through stop signs and red lights, going straight where cars are turning left, riding between cars stopped in traffic and all sorts of other dangerous activities. Of course all bikers arent reckless just as all drivers aren't rude, but a little courtesy could be had on both sides.

The incident has only made me stronger - yes. It was a learning lesson for me, showing me where I needed improvement. You should join my ladies rides that I organize. If you're a fb user, look up '2 Wheels & Heels' and 'LIKE' it. I have a ride coming up next Wed. The ride is growing like mad with women of all ages, backgrounds, etc. I think you'd really enjoy it and it may help with with overcoming your fear.

It's really crazy that that son of bitch went out of his way to try and intimidate you. I started getting so enraged just reading your post but I'm glad you're okay. That's his shit. I too ask myself why people tend to be in such a hurry when in reality they really aren't in a rush. I got hit by a car last year at the corner of high st and goodale and I've since been extremely fearful of being back on the road...on a bike. I guess they won on that one but I'm hoping that others wouldn't give up like I have for fear of getting hit again. I hope that the experience from yesterday with that asshole only makes you stronger.....
